Einbruch bei physischen und digitalen Videospielverkäufen in UK​

08.01.25 - Der britische Videospielmarkt erlebte 2024 einen Rückgang der Umsätze um 4,4 % auf 4,6 Milliarden Pfund, wie aktuelle Zahlen der Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) zeigen. Besonders stark betroffen war der Verkauf physischer Spiele, der um 35 % auf 324,4 Millionen Pfund sank.

Digitale Verkäufe sind stabiler, aber ebenfalls rückläufig: Der digitale Markt konnte mit einem Umsatz von 4,29 Milliarden Pfund zwar dominieren, musste jedoch einen Rückgang von 1 % hinnehmen. Innerhalb des digitalen Segments entwickelten sich die Kategorien unterschiedlich:

- PC-Downloads: -5 %
- Konsolen-Downloads: -15 %
- Mobile Games: +2,6 %
- Abonnements: +12 %

Experten erwarten 2025 eine Erholung des Marktes durch Veröffentlichungen wie Grand Theft Auto VI und den Nachfolger der Switch. Die Daten basieren auf Analysen von Nielsen/GfK, India und GSD.
