After Returnal we knew we had created something special and award-winning, but we also knew we wanted Returnal to stand on its own. With this in mind, we decided to create a new IP which evolves our deep third-person action and mysterious storytelling.

Saros is an action game with the haunting story of a lost off-world colony on Carcosa under an ominous eclipse. You play as Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for. Our goal is to create an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost it takes to create a new future.

Arjun is performed by Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher). Rahul is truly bringing Arjun to life in a stunning performance. He has been a brilliant collaborator to tell our story and champion for the game. He is also not alone on Carcosa, and we will reveal more of our fantastic ensemble npc cast and story information ahead.

A key gameplay distinction between Saros and Returnal is permanent resources and progression making every death valuable. After every death you will face a changed world, but in Saros you will be able to choose and permanently upgrade your loadout from an evolving set of weapons and suit upgrades to “come back stronger” to overcome the challenges you face on Carcosa.

Sieht auf jeden Fall so atmosphärisch aus wie Returnal. Zwar hab ich letzteres, weiss Gott warum, dann irgendwann nicht mehr weitergespielt aber ich hab Bock drauf. Glaub fürs Wochenende installier ich Returnal auch nochmal. Hoffe das Sounddesign von Saros wird auch wieder so stark :shu:

saros entwicklung hat 2022 gestartet (also ein jahr nach returnal) und hat ein ähnliches budget wie alan wake 2 (ca. 70 millionen us-dollar)
According to Kuittinen, the budget for the development of Saros is close to what Remedy revealed was the budget for its blockbuster horror title Alan Wake 2. Development on Saros started all the way back in 2022.

While not too many details about Saros have been revealed so far, creative director Gregory Louden has stated that there will be some form of meta progression thanks to resources players can discover that will carry over between runs. This will be quite different from Returnal, which didn’t have any form of meta progression aside from some currency that could be used to start a run with a better weapon.

As part of the progression, players will be able to permanently upgrade their loadout, and will have access to an “evolving set of weapons and suit upgrades.” All of this will be coupled with randomly-generated levels.

Louden has also stated that Saros will feature an ensemble cast of characters that players can interact with. This indicates that the main storytelling methods in Saros might also be quite different from what we saw in Returnal.

Das mit dem permanenten Fortschritt hört sich super an... sowas taugt mir immer sehr. Und wenn man 2022 angefangen hat dürfte das Spiel ja gar nicht mehr sooooo lange auf sich warten lassen.
